All Roads to Feltwell

This project has been a long time coming. So much so that I remember making the first version of the film page with a photo from it, thinking that it would be done soon. Almost a year later, the movie is finished. My hair is longer, but my determination is resolute. I made damn sure I finished this movie before the end of summer.

ARTF is a homage to where I live. From the 14th September I won’t really be living there anymore, but the village means a lot to me. Its also based on the long-standing joke between my friends that Feltwell is actually the centre of the universe. Not only that, but that everyone is on a journey there during their lives, and once you have been to Feltwell, you will keep finding yourself back there by some turn of events…

From a technical standpoint: ARTF is the first movie I’ve worked on with almost no dialogue in it, and that makes it a challenge to maintain an obvious plot. It will also be the longest film on my channel, probably for a long time, and with longer shorts it can be hard to maintain a good pace. This film is definitely trying to be an arty film, but I think of it more as a parody of arthouse short films. At first I had no idea the overall mood I wanted to create, but as it progressed I found that jokes came naturally and I was far more comfortable with it being comedy with some pretentious (rather than pretentious with some comedy).
